WIP Wednesday

So, I changed the backing to a more creamy white rather than stark white which I like better, I also ditched the tree. And I am happier with how this is coming together. So, here's Izi's quilt take 2:

Levi is sick with a viral infection and R and H both have colds of some form so I will be a bit scarce. Holding one or another of my poor babies. :(

This is...

...what's pissing me off today.

I thought it'd be an awesome idea to make a bag with a peek a boo pocket where you can see a photo. Great, huh? Except this plastic table cloth stuff is a bitch to sew. It moves, slips, gets stuck. *sigh* Got there in the end. But don't know if it's good enough for a gift. May have to keep it. I've put it away for now and will see if it looks okay with lining etc.

I also made this ball yesterday...

appliqued these jammie shirts for Levi.

And B and I hit spotlight today

then an op shop where I found this sheet set {above left} ($3.86!!!) for the vintage sheet swap. Hope it wasn't meant to be a secret Meika??

Isn't it purty??

Christmas globe

Just one thing to show. The sun ran away before I could photograph the rest :)

Yes, I know it's July. But, that means 5 months til Christmas. Just 5 months. 20ish weeks. That means not enough time!!
P.S. I don't intend to use blu tack to hang them but I wanted to see how it looked! AT least you can't see the orange pins I used to stick them together. ;P
I think this is one I'll do closer to Christmas because they would just get wrecked beforehand.
Night! xxx

A week?

It's been a week since I last posted? That went quick!
It's been a bit crazy here lately, sick kids, freezing weather etc so not much crafting done unfortunately. I did do a bit though....

This owl which I made up as I went....

He was going to be a new baby gift but I just used any old material from my stash and I don't think he's right for a baby, you know?

I have also decided on a colour scheme for the big boys' room. (Levi and Hunter share) I'm going to do it in greens and browns, sounds boring, right? Wait til you hear that I can't even paint or anything because we are renting!! This will be a big WIP (work in progress).
Here are some canvases that I have covered in fabric for their room. The car one is a Michael Miller retro fabric, the guitars is also by Michael Miller. I love their fabrics. I am waiting on Levi's fabric to make his quilt then I will do a fabric covered canvas for him too.

Raife's room will be red and blue and I have fabric for his quilt on the way too.

I've been working on Izzy's quilt but am not loving it..here's a pic...

I am going to redo it, it looks funny.

We are selling both our cars at the moment so cross your fingers they sell!!

Brad and I went to the annual book fair today. Sounds like fun, right? Wrong! SO dodgy! Old smelly books, but not even good old smelly books. Just crappy novels, romance books, reference books. *sigh* I bought 2 things. A better homes and gardens mag from 2006 cos it had a softie pattern for a rabbit and a family circle (year??) book on dolls and toys.

I only bought it for the retro pics inside.

And here is a beautiful pic of Hunter playing with Raife, R was laughing and gooing at him. I took the pic through the kitchen alcove so excuse the tissue box in the corner.

silence...

2 eldest boys are on their way to daycare c/o Daddy. Raife is fast asleep. Ahh, the sounds of silence! LOL.

Here are my latest projects:

A pencil roll for Alex who's party we have been invited to
(need to add velcro)
A softie
And a long tutu (which I'm not really a fan of to be honest) I daresay it will be the one and only long one.

Yes that is my son in the tutu. Yes, he is wearing army pants, it's a good look alright! To his father's delight he was not very happy about putting the tutu on for the photos. Hmmph

Finished some stuff

So I've been productive lately...

I finished these Thomas pjs for Levi for Christmas. That's gift #2 done

Then I tackled this doorstop. Do you remember I showed you this? Well it now has rice in it and stuffing to hold it up. Looks good, right?

Then, since I'd been so good finishing these things, I thought I deserved some more fabric!! I got some fleece for trackies for Hunter and Levi, some flanelette, and some Christmas material. Only 5 months to go after all!

I made these pants for Levi which I will have to take up.

And I started a softie for someone having a baby soon. (Not too soon, I hope!) Can you guess what it is?

Here's the latest picture of Raife, he's 4 months already?!?!?

Last but not least, a new pic of the boys and I.

Pay It Forward

So, I was checking out Esther's blog, who I found through the Newbie Quilters Group on Essential Baby and saw she was doing Pay It Forward.
Here's the link http://redinoz.blogspot.com/2008/07/pay-it-forward.html
Quick as a flash, I left a comment asking to join in...Here's the deal...

The first three people to comment on this post will receive a gift from me, sometime within the next 365 days. Who knows when it will turn up, or what it will be, but rest assured, it will arrive. All you have to do is promise to make the same declaration on your blog, and send out gifts to three of your lovely readers.Because I am not even sure that three people even read this blog, the recipients will be on a first come first served basis, HOWEVER please leave a comment regardless as just like the very generous ZigZag Baby, http://zigzagbaby.blogspot.com/2008/06/pay-it-forward.html I will choose one random blogger to become a fourth recipient! Since I have no idea who actually reads my blog- some of my subscribers (grand total of 6) are private, I will leave this open. Make sure you leave me know your email so I can contact you.

I am so excited to be in this!
Hunter is desperate for me to read a Wiggle book (again) so I will come back later and show you what I've been doing.

Bargain!!

B and I drove to Torquay today to get some shoes I saw in an outlet shop a few weeks back. We were there at about 9.15 and the shop didn't open til 10 so we wandered around for a while. It was freezing, about 8 degrees and we had Raife with us. At a quarter past 10, the shop was still closed so we gave up and went back to the car. We decided on the way back to stop at Target and have a look for a jumper for B. Guess what jumped into my hot little hands?

These shoes:

Guess how much they were? $5!! Loving them!

Unfortunately, no crafting was done today. Remember I said I was going to try baby booties? Well I did try. I made 2 left feet?!?!? Lol. Still not sure how!

Ruby

Did I show you Ruby? I think you only saw her leg.
She was intended for a friend about to have a baby but I thought she was a bit odd looking so I kept her.

I don't know if it's just my Ruby but she has an oddly shaped body. Like an old woman. Maybe it's the combo of denim skirt and red tights?? Not quite sure, she is just a bit odd.
The pattern is here:

A hobo bag

Whaddya think? I like it. I used leftover material from the binding for my sisters quilt. (I bought too much as I had no idea)

Quilt is done

Hooray! I'm not real happy with the binding but will wash it and iron it and see if it comes good. But I think I stuffed it a bit cos I cut it. Yeah, a bit silly but we will see how it goes.
I have also cut some fabric for cloth shoes and a bag so they are next on the list.
Then onto Izy's quilt for her naming day in October.
Will take pics tomorrow/Monday.

So tired (again)! Night!

Another link

Check this out,
totally sharing the love. I'd love to do this...
http://thetoysociety.blogspot.com/

Pics!

I've done 2 1/2 edges of the binding!!

Here are the Wiggles pants on Levi

Pic of Raife, awww! almost 4 months old

Levi's "what the" face. I swear this kid has been here before. He's just too clever.

Will next week ever come?

Alright...first up the shitty stuff.
I feel like all I've been saying is that "next week will be better". Money has been soooo tight lately, like really badly tight. And I keep waiting for next week when it will be better. Last financial year was hard, now we are in the new year it should be better but of course Centrelink goes in fortnights so "next week will be better" and B's disability support pension appointment has been pushed back to "next week". *sigh* So hopefully "next week will be better" *sigh* I live in hope!!
Now for the good stuff:
My sewing machine is fixed!! Yay! My Uncle who worked in textiles for ever was here the other day and had a look and fixed it! Woot! I didn't bend the arm which I thought I had (phew!) it had a burr on the metal plate and on a bit inside from the bent needle and is all better. It even has oil!
I am hoping to pick it up tomorrow. :)
My car is fixed!! Yay!! Brad's Dad is down and came over to fix it. They started it up and used some thing to check the power of the thing (yep, real technical here). Turns out the battery just died. (LOL *blushing profusely here*) So that's all ready to go, good thing too as it has half a tank of petrol in it!
The next lot of good news is that I'm not pregnant! Yay! I was worried there for a bit and had to do a test but have proof today that it's not possible. ;) BFing has really stuffed up my cycle, bear with me while I get used to it. I am on the pill and have been but thought it would be like the normal pill, but it's not. Nuff said.
Still no word on my washing machine and it's been a month. They are waiting on a replacement part to be reshipped that was faulty or some nonsense. Worst purchase of my life.
I'm also trying to load my photo program but for some reason, it won't load when you've opened it once per computer session. Yeah, I know....So pics of Wiggles pants will have to wait. Again!

Edited to Add

Better update the boys slideshows too, huh? They are a bit old!!

Daycare Day

Tomorrow is daycare day. I am really looking forward to it. How horrible is that? I get really guilty when I do other things than play with the boys during the day so tomorrow I will hopefully be able to spend some time sewing. I started handstitching the binding on my quilt today so I hope to finish that. Then if I have time I will make some fleecy pants for my boys. I made up a pattern for Levi's pj pants but I will need to make the rise higher for his nappy butt and the legs longer. They are "ankle freezers" at the moment. LOL Poor orphan child!

I also want to try to make a bag now that I know how much material I have left for the binding. I bought 2 yards, which ended up being 2 1/2 when the lady misread the order, she thought it said 2 FQs (1/2 yard) not 2 yards and sent them both out! Lovely!
Anyway I have a yard left cos I stuffed up a bit shh! And it's just enough to make a bag!!! SO that is another project on the go.
Maybe tomorrow I will add a list to the side of things I want to make eg Christmas presents etc.

Do you have a little girl?

Oh. My. God.
This is just the world's most gorgeous dress. It's awesome! Why don't I have a little girl? *sob*

Just quickly

It's been very busy around here lately, sick kids, sick me etc so I have been neglecting my blog. Sorry about that. I have however been working on my sister's quilt! I am 3/4s of the way through sewing the binding to the top and then I will need to handstitch the binding to the back...then it's done. I'm hoping tomorrow I can hire some family movies and spend some time on the couch sewing. If not I will hire some girly movies and do it on Friday when H and Le are at daycare.
Oh speaking of daycare, we had dropped back to one day due to finances being tight for a while and we got a letter from them "Double your care for free for up to 8 weeks"! Awesome timing! So they are booked in for Mondays as well now!!! Isn't that just the best news? The poor buggers are just getting so bored as I am so tired and drained. Hopefully this will give me a decent break to spend my energy on them the other days!
I have also almost finished a pair of Wiggles pj pants for Levi. I made a pair for H and managed to fit a pair for Levi on the material too. AND I have 2 pictures to applique onto some tops once I find some and work out where I put my visofix (spelling?) cos I REALLY don't have any idea.

Off to bed I go! Night.
