December

So the sheets have been sent out, I hope you have all received them!!

I have been busy, not as much sewing as I would like. I just can't seem to find the balance at the moment. That may have something to do with how tired I am! Bloody first trimester. Oh well it's hopefully over now! (Not sure on dates *blush* far too busy to keep track of that stuff. lol!)

I finished Raife's monkey quilt but haven't managed a decent picture so you will have to wait for that one.

I did however blog finish the guys flanelette jammies for Christmas Eve. Tradition being that the night before Christmas they get a present to open with pj's and a new Christmas book.

I have been making thank you gifts for my gorgeous friends that helped with the wedding

some aprons (excuse the lamp being the model!)

a business card holder and key fob

I also made my PIFs and posted them off

and I joined in on a Christmas ornament swap, here is what I received from Miss Muggins.

I don't think I took a photo of what I made and I can't see one on the recipient's blog, but it was cu-ute!

Anyway back soon to show more bits and pieces.

Anyone interested

In joining in a vintage sheet FQ swap?

Last year (I think) Meika organised one, and this year I thought it might be my turn. (Also I plan on making a couple of picnic blankets and would like to make them from thrifted sheets) so who's in?

Anyone outside of Aus who would like to take part please email me so we can work out what the return postage will be)You will need to post them to me by the 20th November and I will get them to you by December 1st. I will send and assortment of FQ's (as many as you sent) back to you!

WHAT FABRICS CAN I INCLUDE?Sheets, pillowcases, tablecloths in 100% cotton or linen are preferable. Please no pre-quilted fabrics, solid colours or licenced characters

The Royal Show.

So we went. We did it. I roped my gorgeous sister into coming with us. It was supposed to rain but held off and was just really cold instead.
I am always amazed at the cost of everything. It's insane! I think I will be holding off on going back until the boys are old enough to ask.

We went on the ferris wheel. (Raife whinged the whole time. Don't think he likes heights, mmm?)

The bigger boys went on the elephants and the teacups.

We also popped into the animal farm but there was way too many schoolkids and none of my 3 wanted to touch the animals. Strange kids :P

It was fun! Thanks Jen for the tickets!!

I know...

I'm hopeless at this. You see, I let my sister borrow my camera and alright. I'm just slack, ok :P

Anyway, til I get it back, here are some of our gorgeous wedding pics that I finally have in my hot little hands. Now to choose a favourite...
The following 4 photos are from my gorgeous friend Mel. The rest are from my stunning friend Alinta.

Our stunning cake was made by an equally amazing friend Leoni, she was also roped into making the toppers and making fudge and other sweets for the lolly bar.

Springtime!

or Wordless Weekend

Saturday, October 10, 2009

Oops missed one!

Sorry about that. It seems the little plug that the charger for the laptop has broken off inside. Helps to have a computer techy guy as your husband. It will hopefully be back and running soon.

Last night, well yesterday was our one month anniversary so I spent it with these...

Binding, pink champagne and strawberry cheesecake. Lots of pink!

Day 8

So, after my whinge yesterday, it turns out the postie did deliver a package to a friend.

He delivered this:

Let me just say it was hard to give this one away, if I was a lover of green and brown it may have been much harder.

I've started to get some red and aqua all cut up ready to do one for me though!
I used this tutorial.

Day 7

Playing along with Pip and Loobylu

What's Hot
-Finishing things when you say you will. I finished 2 things this week that I said I would, on the day I said I would. Hot, right?
-Trying new things and having them work! I tried this today http://pinkpicketfence.typepad.com/pink_picket_fence/2009/04/her-tulle-skirt-the-new-fave.html and it worked.
Brownies from Dominos- way hot!

What's Not
- The cost of postage these days! I paid $18.50 on Monday to have something express posted and it still isn't there. :(
- Using white cotton on purple and thinking it would be ok. It's not.
- Pizza from Dominos. Could there be any less topping?
-The weather at the moment. Bring on the sun! Please!

Day 6

Remember the Christmas fabric from yesterday? Today I made some yo-yos for a couple of things I'm working on. I hate cutting into new fabric. I know there's no point just staring at it, it's just the first cut you know?

I found this gorgeous ducky fabric at my local quilt store. There was only a fat eighth but enough for a bib! Stay tuned...

Monday, October 5, 2009

Day 5

Well, I spent the weekend making something very important that I will show you when it reaches it's destination. Hopefully by the end of the week.
In the meantime check out this gorgeous Christmas fabric that I'm going to cut into tomorrow and start to make some things with. Not long to go!!

Day 4

I think if I had a better sewing machine I'd really enjoy free motion quilting. I have a very basic sewing machine that my Mum bought for me a few Christmas' ago and it is fabulous for quick easy projects. For quilting, not so much!

So, of course I need to play while doing it. Can you see the heart?

Day 3

Doesn't this just piss you off?

I had the teeniest bit left to sew and ran out of bobbin thread!

Day 2

Thank Goodness it's Friday! Fridays are the busiest day for me, even though it's school holidays, I still have 3 clients. Which means way too many hours at work :P
Anyway, looks like most of you would rather have a surprise so, a surprise it is! I may show you a sneak peek, I may not. All part of the fun! If you haven't entered the giveaway, go here

Sorry this is a short post, my brain is just not up to much more than that. It's supposed to be a nice weekend here so I hope to bring you more lovely blog posts. Maybe I can get some fresh air and sunshine and clear the winter fog from my head.
Here's a pic of a WIP. Levi's quilt!

Day1

Very imaginative title huh?

I've been thinking about the giveaway and I think I might grab a bag or make one and randomly put things in as the month progresses. Sounds good, huh? Shall I show you what is going in or make it a surprise?

So, leave a comment on THIS post and on the 31st I will draw a name, ok?

Just cos I don't want this to be the 3rd post without pics, here is a bib and burp cloth I made for a certain little man who's due soon.

Giveaway

During the month of October, I will be giving away a little present. I actually have no idea what it may be. I'm thinking a collection of goodies may be the way to go. Perhaps some patterns, some fabric, buttons, we'll see what I can dig up out of my stash, hey? Maybe some new goodies too!

Blogtoberfest

I think I might join in this year.
A post a day is just what I need to get back in the swing of things. I think I will be sharing some Christmas crafts, Christmas gift, some of the crafty things I (with some help) did for the wedding, baby gifts and some quilty goodness.
See you soon!
See this blog for more details: tinniegirl

*slinking in the room*

*Waving quite nervously*
Hello! It's me, Selina.
Sorry I have been Missing in Action.
I have been very busy! I am now married. That's right it's Mrs What were we thinking to you!
I have been crafting but mostly I've been planning a wedding. As I get more photos I will be sure and share them but here is a sneak peek on my photographer friend Alinta's blog. We were lucky to have 2 talented, gorgeous photographers who happen to be our friends come down from Perth to photograph our day. The other photographer is working on a slideshow so you will have to wait til that is all finished to see that one too. I am expecting to change my header when I have seen all the pics.

Anyway since this is a craft blog, here is the finished quilt I was working on, pre wedding

I used some of my gorgeous Heather Ross fabric. It turned out more orange than I thought it would, I think I should have used a different binding fabric. None the less I love it. It's all mine!

Walking for breast cancer

Hi guys!
Hope you are all well. We are, it's just been crazy busy.
On this Sunday, Mother's Day in Australia, I am walking for breast cancer. With my Mum, sister and Grandmother as well as my Aunt. If you'd like to sponsor me, I've set up a sponsor page here https://mothersdayclassic.trickytix.com.au/sponsor/view/6330/selina-woolcock I thought I'd have a giveaway for those of you who sponsor me. I have 2 bags of scraps here various sizes, prints etc that I thought I could offer to a random person who sponsors me. It doesn't have to be alot, just anything you can spare.
Leave me a comment if you sponsor me.

Still no crafting...

Sorry. I am thinking about crafting, does that count?

I think I've lost a bit of confidence to be honest. I am sure it will come back especially when I show you all this...

I hear tell the Heather Ross range is interchangable and I can mix and match my mermaids with these too! I feel a quilt for me coming on. I just hope I have enough batting to put it all together in a lap quilt. Mmm maybe with flanelette on the back??
Also, I have to show you my gorgeous emerald dress that I found.
It's a 1940/50 dress that my sister got at a bargain price for me. I am in love!
I just need to have it altered a bit, it's a bit tight in the ribs and waist. Which is why I am not wearing it for these pics. Thankfully there is enough material in the thing, that it shouldn't be too hard.
Oh and I went opshopping/thrifting yesterday for the jars for the lolly buffet at the wedding and had massive success. Here is the haul!
All for under $20! So happy. Now what lollies will I fill it with? The colours of the wedding are vintage inspired. I'm thinking musk sticks, teeth, mentos... Mmmm.
I would really like to find a novelty martini glass, you know the big ones? Pray to the wedding gods for me will you?

The most beautiful ring

So here it is, the most perfect ring for me.

We went and chose it together... hey, we've been together for 5 years! He knows me but I couldn't face the idea of wearing something I wouldn't love to look at every day, FOREVER! (Plus he would have spent sooo much more. This way I could justify very expensive shoes as well ;) )

Sorry the picture is crap. It is so hard to take a picture of your own hand.
I haven't gotten my sewing machine out since the market failure :( so I have nothing crafty to show but I am working toward something.
The fabulous Jodie at Ric-Rac kindly sent me her gorgeous kinder boys pattern so I may have to have a go at them. They're so sweet!
I am also waiting on my engagement photo dress to be delivered this week so I will post pics of that, it's a green 50s style party dress.
Stay with me for more crafty goodness.... coming soon (I hope!)
