Around the corner

So, Christmas is just around the corner. I am getting ready, revelling in the warmer weather and preparing for what is for us, the very busy season. I've just started school, Hunter is going to school next year and Levi is off to kinder so we've been doing lots of transition sessions. Then we have Christmas and then it's birthday week. Then the juggling starts for reals!

Anything I can do to make this busy time easier is a plus in my opinion. So, when I read about an awesome promotion just for bloggers to get 50 Christmas Cards for free I stuck my hand up!
I normally buy plain white cards and print my photos and glue them on and decorate them somehow (LOL) So this is right up my alley this year, pick the card, choose print, then they are delivered to my door! Love it!
Here is the Shutterfly website

And there are some beauties to choose from, these are some of my faves in the card section:

They also have other products, like personalised ornaments (so sweet!)

They are all classy designs with some very classic and some modern designs. Lovely!

Check them out and bloggers, sign up here.

Pepper's professional pictures

I recently went on a little holiday to Sydney with my gorgeous mother's group and had the luck to book a session with the talented Alinta from Capturing Life's Colour. She is one of the fabulous photographers we had for the wedding.

I got my cd back today and just have to add some pictures of my littlest baby and me.

I am trying to convince her to come to Melbourne next year when Pepper is a bit bigger to do family shots. Anyone else want a session?? :)

Oh handsome

No, not you. :P

I have been looking for some cool kids knits, stuff that I would actually buy and put on my boys, and stumbled on this gem.
I decided to give it a go and I have to say that it is so easy to make! I love the pattern! I think I may even purchase it and make it in the bigger sizes for the bigger boys.

I wish I'd added a few more rows to make it a bit longer though, the pattern says it's long, but maybe my Raife is just tall.

It is knit up using Bendigo Woollen Mills 12 ply rustic in midnight tweed which is a gorgeous deep blue with flecks of red and green.

Catching up

So, I have been doing things, making stuff. My sewing machine is in desperate need of a service but my budget wont stretch that far so I've been using my Grandma's, honestly, it is so hard to get used to a different machine after only being on mine for 3/4 years.First up, we have this lovely setMy niece is obsessed with Mickey Mouse so her birthday gift was an obvious choice.
I used the free Lazy Day skirt pattern and hemmed the bottom instead of using ribbon. And I appliqued the black Mickey ears on a plain white t-shirt from Target. It has slightly puffy sleeves and looks nice and warm. It's funny. I tend to think that a handmade gift like this needs something else so I grabbed some pjs for her as well. Does anyone else do that? So weird. It took me a while to make this, but I didn't feel it was enough.
It's my nephew's naming day three weeks after the baby is born and I am going to Sydney that weekend too, so I had to make his quilt now, when I had time and no baby in my hands. I used this tutorial here and didn't even have to think about anything! Next time I will do my own fat thick binding though as I really prefer to have a bigger border. I hope they love it!

Then, the last thing to show off today is my baby girl's quilt. I tell you, if this child come out and is a boy I will have some great gifts for the next person I know who has a girl!

It the hexagon quilt, all finished!

I really struggled to quilt this one. I think it would have been better to hand quilt it but I couldn't do it. My tummy is too big and I wanted it to be finished before she gets here.

The Sydney trip I mentioned earlier will include a photo shoot with the gorgeous and talented Alinta, who did our wedding pics so I wanted the quilt ready for that. It has some massive gathers in the back but I am so in love with it.I hope this baby likes pink!!
The obligatory belly pic, the shadow on my wardrobe wall!

No tv?

I just read about this somewhere on my google reader (I'm sorry I can't remember where) and am seriously considering doing it. It's supposed to be lovely weather for the next few days and it can't hurt the electricity bill either right?
One week with no tv. Now, the only thing stopping me is the fact that I am really pregnant and have the sorest back possible. This pregnancy has really knocked me about and I am feeling it. With 3 small boys I have been relying on the tv for my sanity but honestly? We have a hundred books, playdoh, pencils, paint, why not give it a go?
Anyone else interested?

Easter 2010

So, it is a complete pain in the backside to have a lactose intolerant child. Raife, my youngest, is unable to eat dairy without getting a really upset tummy, which isn't pleasant for him, or us as the nappy changers. ;)This year I attempted to make him a Humpty Dumpty like his brothers. Why didn't I google how to use chocolate moulds before attempting this? Anyway, no pictures as it was a bit of a mess! I put Skittles inside and he loved it! I just couldn't get the two halves to stick together properly and had trouble getting the chocolate out of the case. Hopefully he'll grow out of it by next year!
We went to my Grandma's for an egg hunt and I made a carrot cake which was delicious, here's the recipe. Cream cheese icing! Mmm!In other news the cardigan for the baby girl is done and waiting for buttons and I am powering through the hexagon quilt. I think I may need to get myself to the quilt shop and buy some more FQs!

Wow

It's really been a while, huh?
I'm going to have to go back through the past few months and start uploading some pics. Way back to Christmas! Ha, that's terrible!! In the meantime, I've been falling in love with hexagons.
I am pretty big with this baby at the moment and really enjoying some slow hand sewing. I've also taken up knitting! I made a gorgeous preemie cardigan. And a bunny. Now I have a cardigan on the needles. Turns out that this baby is a girl. BIG shock. SO I grabbed some pink wool and have been making something stripy. Here's a sneak peek.
